Pelton Polled Herefords

Where we strive to raise cattle that are ideal for the commercial cattleman; reliable and easy calving, without sacrificing hardiness or weight gain

Who We Are

Pelton Polled Herefords is located northwest of Halliday, North Dakota. It is owned and operated by Craig Pelton, along with his two children Kayla and Kain.

The ranch as it is today started as Craig’s 4-H project in 1972. Adding as they went and keeping replacement heifers, Craig and his brother grew their registered herd alongside the family’s multi-generation commercial Hereford operation.

Today, Pelton Polled Herefords raises 150 registered polled Herefords each year along with our commercial herd. We strive to raise cattle that are ideal for the commercial cattleman; reliable and easy calving, without sacrificing hardiness or weight gain. Our cattle thrive in the extreme winter cold and blazing summer heat of western North Dakota on a simple nutrition program that prepares them for any environment.

Every person in our family has a vital role. While Craig is the primary overseer of the ranch’s breeding program, the day-to-day operation is a full family affair. Kayla and her husband Tyrun, their children Kaisley and Conner, and Kain and his wife Abbey along with their son Rowan, work side by side to continue building the Pelton Polled Hereford legacy.
